"This high-performance, zinc-oxide based sunscreen for the face offers broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 30+ protection and harnesses BECCA’s famed colour matching expertise to create beautifully tinted shades light, medium and tan skins." ~ BECCA COSMETICSThis is one of Becca's latest range of 'Sun Care' products. They also have one for face and body. :)
Key attributes
As described from the official Becca website:
Colour & Coverage
I have the shade in 'Medium'. On my medium NC30-35 olive skin tone, it gives an even tan to my face of about 2 shades darker than my skin tone. I'm naturally darker on my forehead (as most people probably are as well) and when I apply this, it actually makes the rest of my face the same colour as my forehead so it really evens it all out. :) To my mind, this product really meets the description of a 'tint' as in it really provides the skin with a tinted overlay similar to a tinted car window. It has a real transparency about it in that compared to say the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 (Oil Free) (see comparative swatches below), it darkens the complexion, but you can still see the skin underneath it. The Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 (Oil Free) clearly gives a lot more coverage and is more opaque in comparison.
Comparative Swatches
Below are comparative swatches of the Becca Mineral Tint SPF 30+ Sunscreen in 'Medium' and the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 (Oil Free) in 'Sand'. Personally, I find the Laura Mercier in 'Sand' appears orange on my skin tone so I've hardly used it since I purchased it. The Becca one is a little more neutral and more yellow-based in comparison. I've also added swatches of the Becca Mineral SPF Primer further down below just out of interest even though they are different mineral SPF products - one being a tinted sunscreen and the other being a primer (note, this holy grail product of mine is unfortunately, temporarily unavailable as it is currently being reformulated - see my related post HERE).
Texture
Very lightweight, gel-like texture.
Scent
Has a subtle scent that reminds me of caramel. The scent doesn't seem to linger once it's been applied on the face (at least I don't notice it). It's more subtle than say the currently (temporarily) unavailable Becca Mineral SPF 30 Primer (my all-time fave primer!!), but the latter had a different scent - like a marshmallow.
RRP & Size
AU$35 for 40 ml / 1.35 fl.oz of product. It's less than the SPF Mineral SPF 30 Primer, which is 50 ml / 1.7 fl. oz and hence, also costs more - actually it's considerably more at AU$68.
Ingredients
Zinc Oxide, Alkyl (C12-15) Benzoate, Butylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Glucoside, Citric Acid, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Cyclomethicone, Diazolidinylurea, Edetate, Disodium (Disodium EDTA), Ferric Ferrocyanide (Cl 77510) Fragrance (Parfum), Fumaria Officinalis (Common Fumitory) Extract, Fumaric Acid, Glycerin, Iron Oxides (CI 77489, CI 77491, CI77492, CI 77499) Isostearic Acid, Isostearyl Neopentanoate, Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Mica, PEG – 20 Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Phenoxyethanol, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Stannic Oxide, Titanium dioxide, Tocopheryl Acetate, Water (Aqua) – Purified, Xanthan Gum.
Recommendation
One of the key aspects I've loved about Becca for years is their incorporation of skin care and particularly, highest standard of sun protection in their products. I know I can always count on this brand for sun protection. If you're after a 'no fuss', reliable, SPF UVA/UVB 30+ that is extremely lightweight, has a subtle, pleasant scent, and want to add a tan to your skin this summer (or any time of year), I recommend the Becca Mineral Tint SPF 30+ Sunscreen. It's a great product to have when you want to head out to the beach, etc and you don't want to put any make-up on or don't need to put any makeup on because your skin is in fairly good condition. It's also great if you're already naturally tanned like me, but want to even out your skin tone, then it's also a good one for that purpose. At the moment, I prefer to wear this underneath a foundation that has greater coverage because I have blemishes I need to cover (although the Becca Mineral SPF Primer is the best product for this - it's unavailable at present :( ). Otherwise if you want one that matches your skin tone exactly that offers a sheer coverage with luminosity and slightly less SPF protection of SPF 25+, then try the Becca Luminous Skin Colour (see swatch in the shade, 'Bamboo' in this post). The latter comes in 12 different shades, so there's a high chance you'll find one in a shade and undertone that suits you. ;)
Hope this helps!
Thanks for stopping by. ^_^ xo
